Packing Recommendations

PONY EXPRESS delivers mailing units the package of which corresponds to the size and weight requirements established by PONY EXPRESS. Please find below packing recommendations which will help you to ensure safety of your mailing units.

PONY EXPRESS Packaging Materials

You may use your own packaging or PONY EXPRESS branded packaging:

PONY EXPRESS envelope – is a specially developed moistureproof cardboard envelope for packing mailing units containing papers (documents, business papers, etc.) with the maximum dimensions of 26х35 cm and weighting up to 1 kg.PONY EXPRESS envelope is a specially developed moistureproof cardboard envelope for packing mailing units containing papers (documents, business papers, etc.) with the maximum dimensions of 26х35 cm and weighting up to 1 kg.

PONY EXPRESS bag is an extra-heavy plastic bag for packing mailing units containing papers (documents, business papers, etc.) with the maximum dimensions 40х45 cm and weighting up to 5 kg. The weight of documents sent in one mailing bag should not exceed 5 kg. If the weight of a mailing unit is over 5 kg, it is recommended to divide it, pack in several bags and send by one and the same way bill. In this case, the total weight of a mailing unit packed in the bags and sent under one and the same way bill should not exceed 20 kg.

PONY EXPRESS tubes are suitable for large format documents which are preferable to be rolled than folded. This king of package can be used for sending big calendars, posters, maps and drawings. The maximum dimensions of a mailing unit are 100*15*15 cm and 200*25*25 cm.

Package for bottles is a special king of packing designed for dispatch of drinks in glass bottles.

To pack cargo, PONY EXPRESS provides for packages different in size and material.

To choose the box size, please determine the aсtual and volume weight of cargo.

Standard international formula for calculation of the volume weight:

Length x Width x Height in cm / 6000 = volume weight

If the volume weight exceeds the actual one, then the volume weight value is taken for calculation of carriage.

Framing of shipments sent by clients.

Special tariff for framing of shipments sent by clients:

- 1 m³ – 900 rubles

Minimal fee – 1m³

Extra charges to the tariff depending from the cargo category:

- Fragile cargo – cargo sensitive to impact of dynamic loads (window, automobile glass), medium and major household appliances and office equipment, decorative products made of finishing dips and concretes, stone, clay, glass, gypsum, products in fragile consumer containers (light plate, plastic, glass): food stuff, medicaments, cosmetics, automobile chemistry etc) – the coefficient is 1,2.

- outsized cargo is the cargo that by virtue of its size and/or form requires usage of special appliances, devices and technologies for delivery – the coefficient is 1,6.

The cargo category is determined depending on type and size in accordance with the transporter principles and normative act requirements of the Russian Federation.

The tariff is specified without regard to VAT.

How to pack a mailing unit correctly? Several helpful recommendations.

Packing

• Select package the size of which corresponds to the mailing unit dimensions. During transportation, the overfilled box is exposed to disruption and the half empty one – to deformation.
• Use dunnage for safe fixing of items inside the package. As dunnage, you can use different means, starting from materials at hand, such as waste newspapers, rags, pillow fillers, to the vesicular wrappings specially developed for these purposes.
• The box strength should correspond to the cargo. Use high-quality corrugated cardboard as transport package. Do not use out-of-shape boxes.
• Fragile articles should be placed at the center of a hard box so that they are not in contact. Thoroughly wrap each item with soft packing material.
• Liquids should be packed in sealed flasks and over-sealed in polyethylene plastics.
• Greasy substances and substances with heavy odour should be enwrapped in oilproof material and glued up with self-adhesive tape.
• Remember! Loose load can damage the rest contents of the box.
• Powders and bulk materials should be packed in strong polyethylene bags, sealed and placed in a box with the solid base.
• Edgy articles (such as knives or scissors): wrap thoroughly the fine edges and ends in the protective material. Fix the protective materials so that they do not unwrapped accidentally during transportation.
• Rolled posters, drawings and maps should be packed in prismoidal tubes which should be firmly sealed on either side.
• Small articles and gifts should be packed with special care. As a rule, gift package is not suitable for transportation.
• Place soft packing material between discs, audio- and video cassettes.
• In case of re-using of the box, please make sure that it is solid and is in the perfect condition, without pricks, ruptures and damaged corners. Remove all labels and stickers from the box.

Sealing

• Fasten all the package joints with broad adhesive tape.
• Do not use cellophane tape, insulating tape, or string when packing the parcels.
• Do not wrap the box in paper.
• Do not seal excessively international mailing units. Customs official may open the cargo for inspection.

Specification of the address

• Specify the full address of the actual consignee. Please write the address legibly so that it can be easily read.
