Dictionary of the main terms
3PL, Third Party Logistics. The 3PL technology means provision of the full package of the necessary logistics services and information assistance from delivery of consignments to the end-consumer to organization and management of shipments.
B2B, business-to-business a market sector which is oriented to organization of interaction between companies in the process of production and sale of goods and services. To wide extent B2B means goods and services for business, for example, logistics or consulting sevices.
Cargo is a consignment with the weight more than 20 kg, accepted from the consignor to be transported and delivered to the recipient.
Client is an individual or a legal entity, the Customer of the Company’s services paying for the Company’s services.
Company (Contractor) is OAO “FREIGHT LINK” (the PONY EXPRESS trademark).
Consignor is an authorized individual or a legal entity which is written as such in a consignment note and acting on behalf of a client and/or on behalf of the owner of the consignment ordering the delivery service.
Consignment is a package-bound postal enclosure which is bounding for one destination address (with physical or volume weight of not more than 20 kg) or a cargo enclosure (with physical or volume weight of not more than 20 kg) handed over to the Company by the consignor for delivery according to the number of packages on the basis of a firm consignment note.
Consignment is a consignment having the weight up to 20 kg inclusively accepted from the consignor to be transported and delivered to the recipient.
Consignment note (forwarding agent’s receipt) is a special printed multilayer self-copy form having a unique number, containing information which is essential for delivery and accompanying a consignment the whole way from the consignor to the recipient.
Consignment tracking is actual information on the status of a consignment placed on the Company’s site.
Contract for services is a document (an agreement) between the Contractor and the Customer regulating the obligations and mutual responsibility of the Parties when delivering the Customer’s consignments.
Customer is a legal entity or an individual interested in rendering of the Contractor’s delivery services and making an order in this connection.
Damage to cargo is a damage of the contents of a consignment provided that there is an external damage of the package of the consignment in the process of delivery or keeping.
Dangerous cargos are substances, products made of them, materials, industrial or other wastes which due to their inherent features can make a threat to life and health of people, cause damage to the environment, harm or destroy material values and which are not allowed to be transported according to the European Agreement on International Road Transport of Dangerous Cargos (IRTDC) or allowed to be transported only with observation of the IRTDC terms.
Dangerous goods declaration is a document in which a consignor describes dangerous goods and materials designated for transportation and confirms that the goods and materials are packed and have labels in accordance with the provisions of appropriate conventions or agreements.
Declared value is the written value of the enclosure indicated in the consignment note determined by the consignor. The declared value shall not exceed the actual (confirmed by documents) value of the consignment.
Delivery is a complex service of the Contractor for receipt, transportation and address delivery of a consignment from a consignor to a recipient with supplying information to the Customer and responsibility for safety of the consignment. Econom delivery is a not expensive way of not-urgent delivery of mail and cargos through the territory of Russia.
Express delivery is an urgent delivery of mail and cargos from a consignor to a recipient through the territory of Russia and the CIS countries.
Heavy consignment is a consignment with the volume of physical weight of at least one place of 80 kg or more.
Large-size consignment is a consignment when the sum of three dimensions of at least one package is more than 270 cm.
Logistics is strategic planning and management of transportation, storage and other operations connected with material flows of things and materials.
Manual of services of OAO FREIGHT LINK is a detailed description of the Company’s services, the regulations of making an order, preparation of consignments for transportation and the rights and obligations of the Parties of the Contract. The Manual of services is an integral part of the constant contract with the Customer.
Marking is various signs, pictures, inscriptions and reference designations on cargos setting the procedure of their account and measures of safety during transportation.
Obligatory paragraphs of a consignment note are boxes of the consignment note which submit to obligatory filling in by the consignor The lack of information in these boxes or irregular filling makes the delivery impossible or considerably complicates the delivery of the consignment or its tracking.
Order is an order of the Customer to the Contractor to organize and to render delivery services made by phone, via a Contractor web-site or by other way. Placement of an order provokes appearance of the following obligations of the Parties of the Contract: the Contractor shall be obliged to render the services stipulated by the Contract and the Customer shall provide the consignment according to the contractor’s requirements and shall pay the services rendered by the Contractor.
Outer dimensions are the main sizes (length, width, height) of a product or a cargo package.
Physical weight is an index of weight of a consignment determined by the method of measurement in kilograms on special equipment (balance).
POD, Proof of delivery includes the date of delivery and the name of the recipient of the consignment. A POD electronic version is on the company’s site in the “Tracking” section.
Prohibited things are things and materials the transportation of which is prohibited by the current law of the Russian Federation, rules or instructions of the country where the consignment is accepted for delivery and of transit countries and of destination countries.
Recipient is an individual or a legal entity said as such in a consignment note and acting on its own behalf and/or on behalf of the owner of the consignment having the right to receipt of the consignment.
Return is return of a consignment to the sender’s address if it is impossible to make a delivery, a refuse to receipt or by request of the consignor.
Super-express delivery is a guaranteed urgent delivery of consignments with the weight of up to 2 kg inclusively to the determined time the next business day to some town of Russia.
Volume weight is an index of weight of a consignment, the calculation of which is made in kilograms by the formula evaluation: (width (cm) x length (cm) x height (cm) / 6000 (kg). If the volume weight is more than the physical weight the cost of delivery shall be determined by the volume weight.
